ALL YOU CAN BEAR

About us

The High street in Lewes many years ago
where the Antique dolls and antique bears shop is today.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by this website. Many of you will already know me but if you don't you might like to read the following.

I have been selling antique dolls and antique bears in the UK for over 40 years now!  I first started selling dolls at age 19. A doll that my mother owned as a child got me interested. It was a closed mouth dream baby. I just thought that "baby doll" had something about her that you do not find in modern dolls. As a child I loved playing shops, so it seemed like a great idea to start selling them and my ambition was to have  my own doll shop.

My first attempts at selling were at Bermondsey antique market, and Portobello road. I also attended the first ever doll fair in London. After leaving art school, I worked in Grays mews antique market on a furniture stall. I was allowed to display and sell some of my dolls there. Gradually I built things up and opened a shop at Camden Passage in North London. After a break of a few years I returned to Camden passage where for many years I sold from an outside stall  Around this time antique teddy bears first started to become popular.  Pam Hebbs  opened the first Teddy bear shop in London at Camden Passage. Here I spent many an hour learning about her wonderful bears. Her shop was possibly the first of its kind in the UK.

During this time, and for more than 20 years I returned to Grays Mews Antique market in London where I shared a shop. At one point there were about 7 of us selling dolls and related items there.  I traded there until it closed down in 2018.

Many of you will remember my lovely friend Claire Kinloch. We first met at Bermondsey, At the time, she was planning to produce a monthly doll magazine. I got involved, and for 5 years or more, I was joint editor of our Magazine "Kinloch & Sellers Catalogue. Sadly Claire passed away in 2018. She was a wonderful friend, and inspiration. She was loved throughout the doll world.

I now live just outside Brighton, and sell in Lewes as well as fairs.

I have a good selection of both dolls and antique bears at my shop, In addition there are always more items sitting at home with me keeping me company! So if you are looking for something special  please get in touch.

Apart from selling on this site, I sell on eBay Ruby Lane and from my shop, I attend major doll and teddy fairs in the UK
